The Cincinnati Bengals have signed a new kicker to temporarily replace Evan McPherson.
McPherson is sidelined for a few weeks with a groin injury. The Bengals brought in some kickers for drills to see who would replace McPherson. They chose Cade York, who has previous NFL experience.
York played for the Cleveland Browns in 2022, making 24 of 32 field goals (75 percent) and 35 of 37 extra points (94.6 percent). The former LSU kicker also kicked for the Washington Commanders in their season debut, going 0/2 on field goals but making both extra points.
McPherson is in his fourth season with the Bengals and has been quite consistent. But this season, he’s struggled with hooking his kicks, going 16/22 for a career-low 72.7 percentage. McPherson had made two of four field goals in the Bengals’ Week 11 loss to the Chargers.
