GOOD NEWS: Packers HC Matt LaFleur Reveals Packers Are On The Verge Of Landing New England Patriots’ $33 Million Defender in Free Agency Ahead Of Lions Clash

Despite their 9-3 record, the Green Bay Packers still have room to grow and establish themselves as a top contender. Matt LaFleur’s team is third in the NFC North and ranks outside of the top ten best defences this season.
The Green Bay Packers must improve their defensive interior, as they rank 21st in rushing defence. Matt Holder of Bleacher Report says that the team should consider signing New England Patriots defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale in free agency to remedy one of their vulnerabilities.

“Green Bay’s defensive tackle position has been a sore area in 2024, and T.J. Slaton is about to become a free agency. So, the defence will need to strengthen up in the midfield to close holes against the run,” Holder wrote.
“The 6’3″ and 310-pound Ekuale might help fix that problem since he has had a solid campaign in that category this season. PFF rewarded the 30-year-old, who turns 31 in January, with 19 defensive stops through Week 12,” he explained.

Daniel Ekuale, who is on a two-year, $3.4 million contract, is having his most productive NFL season. The former Washington State star is a regular starter for New England and has 40 tackles through Week 12, more than in any other season in his NFL career.

Green Bay Packers are also advised to take Ole Miss’ standout.

Looking ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft, Matt Holder of Bleacher Report recommended the Green Bay Packers to consider selecting Princely Umanmielen to beef up their defence.

“After dealing Preston Smith, the Cheeseheads could need another edge rusher to play opposite Rashan Gary. Brian Gutekunst prefers to choose pass rushers who are elite athletes, and the Florida product fits that bill,” Holder said.

“Umanmielen accelerates well off the line of scrimmage, beating offensive tackles with speed around the edge, then counters with a wicked inside spin move. He also possesses the ability to shift direction and strength to convert speed to power, as well as good cross-chop and rip manoeuvres and a great bend around the edge,” he said.
