The Chicago Bears haven’t had a solid head coach in more than a decade. Since 2013, all attempts have been unsuccessful. Matt Eberus falls in the latter category. Now, General Manager Ryan Poles and team president Kevin Warren have the daunting challenge of
Finding the proper person to take the franchise to a genuine competitive level. They believe they have a youthful and talented roster on the rise. Caleb Williams appears to be a franchise quarterback.
The biggest remaining gap between the Bears and the rest of the division is at the head coaching position.
Some significant names have already been linked to the role. Ben Johnson is the most popular, for obvious reasons. His accomplishments with the Detroit Lions offence speak for themselves. Kliff Kingsbury, Mike Vrabel, and Marcus Freeman are also named. According to a source, both Poles and Warren hold high regard for a particular name. Brian Flores is the Minnesota Vikings’ defensive coordinator. Poles was a teammate at Boston College. Warren has a strong connection to Minnesota as he worked there from 2006 to 2019.
According to ESPN, Flores looks to have successfully improved his public image.
Ryan Poles and Kevin Warren are presumably aware of the hazards involved.
Flores is a contentious figure. His last tenure as head coach of the Miami Dolphins was marred by scandal. After becoming red, he sued the NFL for racial discrimination, but the issue is still unresolved. In addition, former quarterback Tua Tagovailoa criticized him as a “terrible person.” The criticism came from a harsh teaching method that undermined the quarterback’s confidence. Flores did not respond, instead expressing that he did not feel like that and was sorry Tagovailoa felt that way.
