The Green Bay Packers have constructed an intriguing young core around quarterback Jordan Love, but several outstanding players will soon be ready to sign their first big-money contract extensions.
Rasheed Walker, a left tackle selected by the Packers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, has rapidly established himself as a consistent force on the offensive line and will most certainly seek a long-term contract extension in Green Bay after the 2025 season.
Why the Packers Might Prioritize Re-signing Rasheed Walker
If the Packers intend to extend Walker before he becomes eligible for unrestricted free agency after next season, Felipe Rice of Zone Coverage believes Green Bay will need to make the former Penn State great one of the highest-paid players in his position.
Given Walker’s dependability in both pass protection and the running game, the Packers may have to pay a premium to keep him.
However, considering that the salary limit is likely to grow and the Packers might have up to $45 million in cap space in 2025, there should be plenty of spending flexibility if general manager Brian Gutekunst sees Walker as a priority for completing a deal.
