The Las Vegas Raiders had long been eliminated from playoff contention, with a 2-12 record and a 10-game losing skid entering Week 16. They are one of the NFL’s lowest-ranked clubs and are in early competition for the first overall choice in the 2025 draft. In the midst of their 10-game losing skid, the Raiders received even more bad news with the departure of one of their top stars.
Maxx Crosby, a defensive end for Las Vegas, was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, effectively ending his season in 2024. Crosby’s setback comes after foot surgery, which the Raiders standout endured following a long-standing issue, according to Ezekiel Trezevant.
Before the injury announcement, Crosby rushed to social media to share an encouraging message with Raiders supporters. “Everything happens for a reason,” Crosby explained. “This bounce back will be iconic.”
Crosby concluded his 2024 season after playing 12 games, during which the Raiders lost 1-11 and began the season on a nine-game losing skid. The top defensive end finished his season with five pass deflections, 7.5 sacks, and 45 tackles. As Crosby recovers from surgery, the Raiders have three games remaining on their schedule. They’ll play the Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Chargers to finish the season.
