A STATEMENT SIGNING: New Orleans Saints Have Officially Completed and Announced The Signing Of 2-Time Super Bowl Champion Before Green Bay Packers Game

With a 5-9 record through 15 weeks of the 2024 regular season, the New Orleans Saints have little chance of making the NFL playoffs. However, they are still theoretically in the running for a postseason berth, and they will try to defeat the Green Bay Packers this Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Prior to that game, the Saints tried to sign Clyde Edwards-Helaire, a former running back for the Kansas City Chiefs who had been cut by the defending Super Bowl champions earlier in the week.

Before their Week 16 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, the New Orleans Saints sign a former Kansas City Chiefs running back.
Edwards-Helaire was added to the Saints’ practice squad on Wednesday. Given that the New Orleans do not anticipate having star running back Alvin Kamara active in Week 16 due to a thigh injury, there is a potential he will be promoted to the main roster prior to the Packers game.

Having begun the season on the Chiefs’ non-football illness list, Edwards-Helaire did not play in a single game this season.

Via WWL Radio’s Jeff Nowak:

“Clyde Edwards-Helaire stated that receiving the call from the #Saints was unexpected, but he recognized the 504 area code right away. claimed that the opportunity was too good to miss.

A former standout for the LSU Tigers, Edwards-Helaire was selected by the Chiefs in the first round (32nd overall) of the 2020 NFL draft. In his pro career to date, he has amassed 1,845 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 441 touches.
