The Kentucky football program had a difficult 2024 season, finishing with the second-worst SEC record. This poor year ended with a 4-8 record and just one conference victory. Any talented player would inevitably want to join a better program given the popularity of the transfer portal and the frequency of player transfers. After being forced to rebuild, Kentucky has acquired a few good transfers, such as Kendrick Law of Alabama.
Louisiana native Kendrick Law is a four-star wide receiver. He played for the Crimson Tide for three years throughout his time in college. Law choose Alabama over Texas and LSU, two prestigious universities. He had a lower-body injury during the game versus Georgia, which kept him out of a few Bama games this season. Law has caught 33 passes for 343 yards during his career in Tuscaloosa, including 10 this season for 105 yards and a touchdown. Law will contribute significantly to Kentucky’s offence the next season if he can maintain his health.
The Hope of Kentucky
Kendrick Law can only commit to the Wildcats for a single season. His quickness and adaptability can be very beneficial to them. In addition to playing a bit on special teams and contributing significantly to Alabama’s receiving corps, he amassed 131 yards on just five kickoff returns. The unable to produce any kind of offensive rhythm or identity was the main reason for the UK’s disappointing season. These problems, in my opinion, could no longer be a burden for them with the advent of Law and other offensive weapons.
The Reconstruction
Over the past few weeks, the transfer portal has received a lot of attention, and many players have been moving to new institutions. This season, Kentucky has lost a lot of players to the transfer portal; but, they have done a fantastic job of making up for those losses thus far. They have signed 13 pledges, including two four-stars, and are presently ranked as the nation’s tenth-best transfer team. Will these new recruits live up to Big Blue Nation’s expectations? The coaching staff has done a good job leading a fresh start in Lexington.
