BREAKING: BTS’s Jungkook Has Officially Announced His Retirement After Breaking Livestram Record 20.2 million views

With his livestream on Wednesday, BTS member Jungkook, who is now in the military, broke the record for most views on the fan community site Weverse.

Over 20.2 million people watched the livestream, breaking the previous record of 16 million views, which was also established by Jungkook.
In the video, Jungkook stated, “I am with you while on vacation because I was told I could do livestreams.”

“I jogged every day and worked out with weights to stay in shape because I wanted to go live while on vacation.”

In response to fan requests for a performance, Jungkook performed about 30 songs during the livestream.

He performed covers of songs by various K-pop artists, including as “To.X” (2023) by Taeyeon, “APT.” by Rosé, and “Magnetic” by ILLIT. He also sang two of his fellow BTS members’ songs: “Winter Ahead” by V and “I’ll Be There” by Jin.

In addition, Jungkook performed a few of his own songs, including “3D (featuring Jack Harlow)” and “Standing Next to You” (2023).

 

“I hope you all stay well, and I will continue practicing until we meet again,” stated Jungkook.

Jungkook won the Top K-pop Album and Top Global K-pop Song awards at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on December 13 for “Golden” (2023) and “Standing Next to You,” the album’s first single. The best ranking for a Korean artist was No. 60 on Billboard’s Year-end Charts, which were revealed on December 14.

 

Jungkook is scheduled to be released from the military on June 11 of next year, having started his duty on December 12 of last year.
