Tyrique Stevenson, a cornerback for the Chicago Bears, shoved Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams out of bounds on his first grab of the game last Sunday. Naturally, the two got into a fight on Thanksgiving Day, with Stevenson receiving a fine for the week’s offences and Williams receiving a taunting penalty on the field.
Stevenson may have hit Williams late out of bounds this time. As Stevenson stood up, Williams twirled the ball toward him on the ground, resulting in another taunting 15-yard penalty and what Lions head coach Dan Campbell called a little “a** chewing.”
Williams denied the importance of spinning the ball after the game and said that he and Stevenson didn’t speak to each other during the day.
Williams stated, “I just caught the ball on the first play and I (spun) it.” “Neither he nor I exchanged any words with one another. All I did was spin the ball. I believe their sideline’s overreaction was the cause of the flag. Everyone exclaimed, “Oh, oh, oh.” However, when they make big catches, people twirl the ball. The ball is likely to be spun more than twelve times today when you watch the game. We didn’t keep quiet with one another today.
Jameson Williams’ ‘taunting’ Tyrique Stevenson resulted in an outrageous fine.
Williams was fined $11,255 by the NFL on Saturday for engaging in unsportmanlike behaviour (taunting) by whirling the ball at Stevenson’s feet. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network was also certain to bring up the Thanksgiving incident as justification for a fine exceeding $11,000 for spinning the ball and it hitting Stevenson.
Although he tripped Williams, Stevenson was fined about $20,000 for the Thanksgiving incident.

According to Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero), Pride of Detroit’s Jeremy Reisman demonstrated the play’s All-22 angle to us on December 28, 2024.

It’s important to note that Williams has received fines this season before. He received a $14,609 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Seattle Seahawks game in Week 4. When he recreated the Marshawn Lynch touchdown celebration against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11, he was fined $19,697 once more.
The NFL has the authority to impose fines at random, and the monetary amounts of those punishments are frequently entirely arbitrary. Unless Williams is lying about not telling Stevenson anything along with it, it’s pathetic and over the top to spend more than $11,000 simply spinning the football.
