BREAKING: Miami HC Mario Cristobal Has Officially Set Down As Head Coach Of Miami Hurricane Amid Late Season Collapse and Due To…

Before faltering in the season finale against Syracuse, the Miami football team was very close to making it to both the ACC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff this season. The Hurricanes were ahead 21-0 at the end of that game, but they lost badly, 42-38.

Miami was forced to settle for a spot in the Pop Tarts Bowl after losing to Iowa State 42-41 and finishing as the second team eliminated from the College Football Playoff. Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reports that the Hurricanes decided to remove defensive coordinator Lance Guidry shortly after the game.

Throughout the season, Miami’s defence was abysmal, and they frequently needed the offence and Heisman Trophy contender Cam Ward to save them. It was decided to cut Guidry after the Hurricanes gave up 84 points in their final two games of the season.

Via Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, head coach Mario Crissbal issued a comment regarding his recently sacked defensive coordinator following the announcement of the change.

According to Reynolds, Cristobal stated, “I want to thank Coach Guidry for his contributions to the University of Miami.” “I have made the decision to make a change on defence as part of my ongoing efforts to constantly improve every facet of our program. We will proceed and make choices that will provide our athletes, staff, and program the best chance to succeed and grow to their full potential.

Miami’s defence finished in the middle of the pack overall in terms of yards and points allowed, but given the team’s skill and the fact that this was a championship-caliber offence, that is ultimately insufficient. This season feels like a lost chance at Miami because of the quarterback’s and the offense’s overall excellence, even though it wasn’t a bad unit.

The Hurricanes will have a new defensive playcaller next season as Ward will be leaving. To keep Miami in the ACC, the defence will need to make significant progress in the absence of one of the top players in the nation scoring points.
