The Cavaliers ultimately prevailed 129-122, securing their 32nd victory of the season in 36 tries, largely due to outstanding performances by Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and Jarrett Allen.
The Thunder’s 15-game winning streak came to an end with this Cavaliers victory, which is no small accomplishment given how many outstanding teams OKC faced during that time. Throughout the 2024–25 season, the Cavaliers have appeared to be a serious contender for a championship. Their position as not only a contender but also one of the favourites to win the Larry O’Brien trophy in June is further cemented by this significant victory.

Although some fans are a little concerned that Donovan Mitchell did not play at his best, the fact that the Cavaliers defeated Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder without Mitchell’s heroic performance is encouraging because it shows that they can survive without him.

Despite being without Alex Caruso and Chet Holmgren for the past month or so, the Thunder have put together an amazing run, which is a credit to their two-way prowess. Therefore, fans’ opinion of them as a genuine contending squad is unaffected by their defeat to the Cavaliers.
