BOOOOOOOM!!! Michigan Wolverine Officially Lands Another Huge Commitment From Louisiana transfer portal

Since 2023, Nick Durand has covered Michigan football games, press conferences, and other events as a beat writer for Maize n Brew.
Sam Webb of 247Sports reports that Sherrone Moore and Michigan have signed Caleb Anderson, a sixth-year cornerback from Louisiana, to their 2025 roster. After acquiring wide receiver Anthony Simpson from UMass earlier in the day, Anderson is Michigan’s second addition from the transfer portal on Sunday.

Given that Will Johnson is leaving for the NFL and Aamir Hall has used up all of his eligibility, Anderson is a much-needed addition to Michigan’s secondary. Zeke Berry and Jyaire Hill should both return for the 2025 season, so Michigan’s cupboard isn’t quite empty, but both players were a little erratic, and their depth chart shows little experience.

Michigan lands transfer portal cornerback Caleb Anderson

Anderson has experience, no doubt about it. Although he began playing collegiate football in 2020, he has been a contributor for Louisiana since the 2022 season. Additionally, he has some familiarity with Lamar Morgan, the defensive backs coach at Michigan, who was with the Ragin’ Cajuns during Anderson’s freshman year in 2020 and the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Anderson, who is listed at 6′ 3″ and 200 pounds, also adds a lot of size to the role.

For Louisiana, Anderson’s most productive season to date was 2023. He made ten appearances and eight starts in that season. He broke up 10 passes, recorded 23 tackles, and had one interception. In 2024, his output somewhat declined as he only had 19 tackles and was not given credit for any interceptions or pass breakups during a season marred by injuries.

BREAKING: 6'3 CB Caleb Anderson commits to Michigan!

In any case, Anderson is a valuable addition to the Michigan secondary who will compete with Hill and Berry for snaps while also assisting in the development of younger players such as Shamari Earls and Jo’Ziah Edmond.
