Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was asked about Rod Moore on Friday, and while no official decision has been made, he is optimistic that the Wolverines will have their star defensive back in 2025.
“It looks good, but we’ll see,” Sherrone Moore stated in a post by Angelique Chengelis.
Rod Moore began his football career at Michigan in 2021 and has been a valuable contributor since then. Moore finished the 2021 season with 33 total tackles and one pass defence. His numbers increased significantly in 2022, as he concluded the season with 71 total tackles, four interceptions, three passes defended, and 0.5 sacks. The Michigan football team has recently received some encouraging news about players returning for the 2025 season, and more could follow soon. Rod Moore, the Wolverines’ defensive back, was sidelined this season due to an injury sustained over the offseason. Moore was expected to be one of the greatest players on an already talented defence, and he was also the team captain. Michigan would benefit greatly if he could return next year.
Moore enjoyed another excellent year in his most recent season (2023). He recorded 38 total tackles, three passes defended, and two interceptions.
Michigan football fans will remember one of those two interceptions fondly. Rod Moore secured the victory over Ohio State with an interception in the last minute of the game. That victory propelled the Wolverines to 12-0 on the season and earned them a berth to the Big Ten title game. Michigan went on to win both the Big Ten and the national championship. Who knows what would have occurred if Moore hadn’t secured the choice.
Rod Moore may not return next season, but Sherrone Moore’s positive update on the situation is certainly encouraging.
