VICTORY FOR TENNESSEE VOLS. 1,000-Yard Running Back Has Officially Commits to Major SEC Power House The Tennessee Vols

On December 26, running back Star Thomas revealed that he would join the transfer portal after accumulating 1,024 total rushing and receiving yards with the Duke Blue Devils in 2024. On3Sports’ Pete Nakos predicts that the 6-foot, 210-pound runner will commit to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Thomas initially committed to New Mexico State as part of the 2022 recruiting class. He played two seasons with the Aggies before transferring to the Blue Devils last season.

Over three collegiate seasons, the Homer, Louisiana native has accumulated 2,049 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns, 54 receptions, 504 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns.

Tennessee ranked 46th in the On3Sports team transfer portal rankings, with only two incoming transfers. The reason for this is a huge 2025 recruiting class and ongoing scholarship restrictions from former head coach Jeremy Pruitt’s recruiting scandal, which resulted in 28 scholarships forfeited over five seasons.
Tennessee’s 2025 10th-ranked class included 26 recruits, including one five-star athlete. On3Sports ranks OT David Sanders Jr. as the No. 6 overall player, and he chose the Volunteers over Ohio State, Georgia, and others.

The Volunteers’ two incoming transfers are IOL Wendell Moe (Arizona) and WR Amari Jefferson (Alabama).
