Star Thomas, a former Duke running back, has declared his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers.
Although the transfer portal window is currently closed, the Tennessee Volunteers are not done making moves. The Volunteers recently lost a star backfield player when Dylan Sampson declared for the 2025 NFL draft, and they are striving to rebuild the depth chart. Former Duke running back Star Thomas has announced that he would move to Tennessee.
Thomas began his career at New Mexico State, then transferred to Duke, and now it appears he will complete his career at Tennessee. Last season at Duke, Thomas had 213 carries for 871 yards, seven touchdowns, and an average of 4.1 yards per rush. He also made 20 receptions for 153 yards and one touchdown. At New Mexico State, Thomas had 220 carries for 1,173 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 5.4 yards per carry.
Tennessee will return Peyton Lewis and DeSean Bishop next season, both of whom contributed offensively last season, but a third back is usually needed, especially in the SEC.
