Notre Dame is making a strong push for three-star edge rusher Ebenezer Ewetade, and for good reason. Despite his current three-star ranking, the St. Frances Academy (Md.) standout possesses the raw athleticism, size, and upside that fit perfectly into the Fighting Irish’s defensive scheme.
Why Notre Dame is Prioritizing Ewetade
At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, Ewetade has the physical tools to become a dominant force at the next level. His explosive first step, relentless motor, and ability to set the edge make him a valuable asset in defensive coordinator Al Golden’s system. Notre Dame has shown a clear emphasis on recruiting players with high ceilings, and Ewetade fits the mold of a player who could develop into a key contributor.
The Irish extended an offer to Ewetade in January, and since then, the relationship between him and the coaching staff has only strengthened. Linebackers coach Max Bullough and defensive line coach Al Washington have been heavily involved in his recruitment, emphasizing how he could thrive in Notre Dame’s hybrid defensive front.
Underrated but On the Rise
Though he is currently rated as a three-star recruit by most major services, Ewetade’s stock is rising. His strong junior season at St. Frances, one of the top high school programs in the country, has put him on the radar of several top programs, including Michigan, Penn State, and Tennessee. However, Notre Dame’s early interest and commitment to his development may give them an edge in his recruitment.
Fit in Notre Dame’s Defense
Ewetade projects as an edge rusher with the versatility to drop into coverage when needed. His blend of speed and power makes him an ideal fit for Notre Dame’s multiple defensive looks. With the Fighting Irish looking to bolster their pass rush for the future, Ewetade could be a key piece in the 2025 class.
While his recruitment is still unfolding, one thing is clear: Notre Dame sees something special in Ebenezer Ewetade—and they’re all-in on bringing him to South Bend.
