The Green Bay Packers know that something will need to happen this off-season if they want to go from a playoff hopeful to a Super Bowl contender. Despite improving their win total from 2023 to 2024 and qualifying for the postseason two consecutive seasons, many believe Green Bay is still a few steps away from contending for a Super Bowl.
One offensive move, though, might be a huge effort to fix that.
No one has been able to establish themselves as the Green Bay Packers’ actual number one wide receiver despite the team overloading their receivers in recent seasons:
Freddie Boston of FanSided proposed a trade that would send Metcalf to Green Bay in return for Doubs and the Packers’ 2025 fourth-round pick on Saturday.
Before the new league year begins, Seattle needs to resolve a salary-cap issue. In order to return to zero, it needs to clear $27.5 million, according to Over The Cap,” Boston said. “Nearly $11 million of that amount would be freed up by trading or releasing Metcalf, who has just one year left on his contract.”
Despite missing two complete games and portions of others this season due to injuries, Metcalf, who is still only 27, managed to record 992 receiving yards. In his six-year career, he averages 1,108 yards per 17 games and has two seasons with double-digit touchdowns.
