Maxx Crosby grew up in Lapeer, a Michigan community with a population of only 9,000 people. The closest big city is Detroit, which is only an hour south on I-75. His mother and siblings were also born and raised in Michigan. You could undoubtedly surmise that the Crosbys were passionate Detroit Lions supporters. Crosby currently plays for the Las Vegas Raiders across the country, which is a pity.
Crosby viewed the Lions’ current state as being bittersweet. They were terrible throughout his youth. Now that he’s in the league and can’t cheer them on (at least not entirely), they’re Super Bowl candidates, which he jokes makes him “kind of mad at them.”
It’s not just that the Lions’ recent success is “incredible to see for the city because it’s been some long years,” but also how they’re going about it. They’ve struck the ideal balance of toughness and flair, all thanks to head coach Dan Campbell. The respected coach has brought a stunning degree of guts and determination to a club known for its offensive flare. Crosby can’t help but feel jealous.
Maxx Crosby’s former colleagues are wooing him for Detroit.
Maxx Crosby has more than just a boyhood tie to the Lions. He has various human ties, including former colleagues Pat O’Connor and Amik Robertson. Apparently, everyone “says the same thing” about Dan Campbell and his locker room.
Crosby also likes Campbell’s authenticity, despite being “clowned” when he initially arrived and had a fiery introduction presser. He isn’t hiding anything behind a mask or coachspeak. He says exactly what he means, and he means it. He backs up his words with action, and his enthusiasm and passion for the Detroit Lions squad are everything from overblown.
“What you see in the locker room after the game and during interviews is who he is. People laughed at him at first, saying, ‘The kneecaps stuff and all that is out of this world.’ It’s amazing to see for the city of Detroit.”
Maxx Crosby’s contract has a potential out in 2025. But, even with the Raiders tanking for the next few years, we doubt they’d trade him unless he wanted it. He’s pretty much the only decent asset on their roster right now. If he wants to go out, he must first engage those gears.
While Crosby could eventually line up alongside Aidan Hutchinson in a filthy Lions defensive front, for the time being, he’ll have to settle for cheering them on to the Super Bowl from the comfort of his own house.
