BREAKING: Raiders and Matthew Stafford Have Found Common Ground On a New Contract

Tom Brady’s conversation with Matthew Stafford seemed to have been productive.

The Raiders and Stafford’s camp have reached an agreement on the terms of a new contract, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Although “common ground” does not imply agreement on contract terms, the study strongly suggests that if the Rams and Raiders can agree on a trade, Stafford and the Raiders can agree on a contract.

The Rams and Raiders’ ability to reach an agreement remains to be seen. According to the same report, the Raiders “want to keep the No. 6 pick at all costs.” If the Raiders refuse to trade their first-round selection for Stafford, the Raiders may not obtain Stafford, even if they agree on a salary.

It is still possible that the Rams will retain Stafford. In fact, the Raiders’ agreement with Stafford on a contract may help the Rams and Stafford find common ground. However, by allowing Stafford to speak with other teams, the Rams paved the way for his departure. And the Raiders’ discussions with Stafford appear to be constructive.
