The Denver Broncos will need to develop around their young quarterback, and that begins with providing him with a good arsenal of weapons to pass to. The wide receiver position is one of the top priorities for the Broncos’ front staff. Bo Nix thrived with a small group of wide receivers, and keeping his top target is crucial.
Courtland Sutton is 30 years old and will become a free agent after the 2025 season. With rumors swirling about whether Sutton will re-sign or not, the Broncos front staff planned to meet with Sutton’s agent at the NFL Scouting Combine. Broncos general manager George Paton delivered an optimistic update on Sutton’s chances of re-signing. According to Zac Stevens of DNVR Broncos, Paton stated, “We want him here.” when negotiating Sutton’s extension.
Sutton is one of the Broncos’ longest-tenured players, and with Nix on a rookie contract, retaining Sutton is plausible. After signing a new contract in July 2024, the Broncos receiver is hoping for another payday. Sutton is coming off a great 2024 season with Nix, in which he had 1,081 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
Keeping him will provide continuity for Nix as he enters his sophomore season. Sutton is the most significant extension candidate in Denver. Paton’s favorable update is an encouraging hint that Sutton will resign.
