BREAKING NEWS: Falcons Will be ‘Fairly Aggressive’ Addressing Defense in Offseason

The Atlanta Falcons are set to make a serious push to upgrade their defense this offseason, with reports indicating the team plans to be “fairly aggressive” in addressing key weaknesses on that side of the ball.

Coming off a disappointing 2024 campaign that saw the Falcons struggle defensively, the front office has made it clear that improving the unit is a top priority. With a new coaching staff in place, led by head coach Raheem Morris, Atlanta is expected to target impact players in both free agency and the NFL Draft.

The Falcons finished last season ranked near the bottom in sacks and takeaways, two critical areas that must improve if the team hopes to compete in the NFC South. While they have some talent in place—like standout defensive lineman Grady Jarrett and rising star cornerback A.J. Terrell—the unit lacked consistency and struggled to close out games.

“We’re going to be fairly aggressive,” a team source told reporters. “We know where we need to improve, and we’re going to take the necessary steps.”

The Falcons have cap space and flexibility to make a splash in free agency. Some potential targets could include pass-rushers like Danielle Hunter or Brian Burns, as well as veteran defensive backs to strengthen the secondary.

Additionally, with a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Atlanta could look at prospects like Dallas Turner (Alabama) or Jared Verse (Florida State) to add immediate help to their front seven.

New defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake is expected to implement an aggressive scheme that puts more pressure on opposing quarterbacks, a stark contrast from last season’s often conservative approach.

With free agency and the draft fast approaching, the Falcons’ actions will soon reveal just how aggressive they plan to be. One thing is clear—Atlanta is determined to fix its defense and make a playoff push in 2025.
