The Tennessee Volunteers have gotten a firm commitment from the top quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. The Volunteers are currently focused on the top-rated receiver for 2026. On3’s Matt Ray claims Tennessee is “entrenched in another heavyweight battle” for receiving prodigy Tristen Keys. According to 247 Sports, Keys is the No. 1 receiver and fourth-best recruit in the 2026 class, and the Volunteers are the heavy favorites to sign him.
However, the wideout has official visits scheduled with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, and Texas A&M Aggies. Keys already visited Knoxville, Tenn., twice last fall. During those visits, Keys began to build a relationship with No. 1 2026 quarterback prospect and Volunteers commit Faizon Brandon. “He is a great guy and a great quarterback,” Keys said about Brandon in October. “I got to see him play last night, and it was incredible.
It’s crucial to have a relationship with a quarterback who can sling it. You want to develop connections with quarterbacks who can bring you the ball, and I believe ours is strong. Brandon appears to be maintaining that relationship by promoting the receiver on social media.
The Volunteers have already received verbal commitments from two wide outs from the 2026 recruiting class. However, both are three-star prospects and so fall short of Keys’ caliber. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver will complete his senior season at Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
