To acquire Hendrickson, the Lions would most likely have to give with premium selection picks. My proposed trade deal would include Detroit’s second-round picks in both the 2025 (60th overall) and 2026 drafts, in exchange for Hendrickson and the Bengals’ 2026 third-round pick.

The Lions will need to carefully evaluate how to include Hendrickson’s new contract into their salary cap plans, especially since key players Aidan Hutchinson and Kerby Joseph are also due for extensions.
Hendrickson’s Influence on Detroit’s Defense
In terms of output, Hendrickson has been exceptional. Over the last two seasons, he has 35 total sacks and 61 quarterback hits, establishing himself as one of the league’s most reliable pass rushers. Pairing him with Aidan Hutchinson would produce a lethal edge tandem, giving the Lions one of the NFL’s most formidable pass rushes. This type of tandem could be just what Detroit needs to elevate their defense to the next level.
Should the Lions take the plunge?
The final choice comes down to whether the Lions are willing to trade away major selection capital and commit a large sum of money to Hendrickson at this point in his career. While Hendrickson is in his 30s, he has shown to be a game changer on defense.
