Although Kupp and the Rams were negotiating a possible trade, he might be cut by March 12, when the league season begins. According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, if a trade doesn’t happen by the start of the new league year on March 12, the Los Angeles Rams want to cut veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
Following their decision to let go of Kupp following the 2024 season, the Rams and the veteran wide receiver were negotiating a trade destination. But a deal hasn’t been reached yet, and if the Rams can’t find a suitor on the market, they intend to cut Kupp.
When the 2025 season begins, Kupp will be 32 years old. If he stays with the Rams, he would receive a base salary of $12.5 million and a roster bonus of $7.5 million.
For the aging receiver, who hasn’t reached 1,000 yards since winning AP Offensive Player of the Year in 2021 after catching 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, the Rams thought it was a high price to pay.
Last season, Kupp caught 67 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns—his lowest receiving yardage total since 2018.
