Kenny Atkinson’s record-breaking performance added to the Cavs’ fond memories of the day.

Kenny Atkinson better coach for Cavs after Nets experience

The Cavs’ performance this season demonstrates that Cleveland made the proper option in hiring Atkinson as JB Bickerstaff’s successor. Before arriving to Cleveland, Atkinson worked as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers. He also coached the Brooklyn Nets and served on the coaching staffs of the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks.

Under Atkinson, the Cavaliers have transformed into an elite machine on both sides of the court. Cleveland leads the NBA this season with a 122.0 offensive rating and is seventh with a 110.9 defensive rating. The Cavaliers’ net rating of 11.0 is only surpassed by the Oklahoma City Thunder (12.8).
