The Green Bay Packers have been the subject of numerous offseason reports about adding great players to their offense. Specifically, the wide receiver position. By the end of last season, wide receiver was a critical need for their offense.
Today, they answered that need in a big way.
Breaking: Packers sign three-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver.
According to a source from Wisconsin Sports Heroes:
Just seconds ago, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on X (previously Twitter) that the Packers have signed former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman to a one-year deal.
Hardman has won three Super Bowls in his career, all with the Chiefs. He made the Pro Bowl in his rookie season (2019), with 26 receptions for 538 yards and six touchdowns. He was also awarded Second Team All-Pro that season.
However, his Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors were due to his dominance as a kick returner, with 704 kickoff return yards, including a 104-yard return for a score.
The Packers’ decision to sign Hardman makes sense for two reasons. First, his speed makes him an ideal fill-in for Watson, who, as previously stated, will miss the majority of the 2018 season due to a ruptured ACL. Second, it doesn’t sound like Keisean Nixon wants to return kicks anymore, and Hardman provides Green Bay the option of taking that job as well.
