BREAKING: Could the Packers Have an Aaron Rodgers Revenge Game This Season?

The Kansas City Chiefs signed free agency cornerback Robert Rochell to a one-year contract.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rochell agreed to terms with Kansas City after spending the previous season with the Green Bay Packers. The value of his transaction was not disclosed.Rochell’s career began well after the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Central Arkansas product appeared in 11 games, including five starts.

The Packers Did Something In 2024 That Only Happened Twice With Aaron Rodgers

Unfortunately, he was on injured reserve late in his debut season. Rochell has struggled on defense since his first year and was released by the Rams in their final roster cuts in 2023. Former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is currently unsigned. The future Hall of Famer was released by the New York Jets during this offseason but has yet to sign with a new team for 2025. Rodgers did, however, meet with Pittsburgh Steelers brass this week, which included head coach Mike Tomlin and owner Art Rooney II. The Steelers may be Rodgers’ last best shot to sign with a team this season after the Giants and Vikings turned him down. If Rodgers joins with Pittsburgh, the Packers will face him this season when they play the Steelers (if he is healthy). The game is recognized as the Steelers’ home game.

However, it is possible that the Packers will face the Steelers in the inaugural NFL regular season game, which is slated for later this year in Dublin, Ireland. We still don’t know which teams will play in that game, but reports suggest it will be Green Bay and Pittsburgh.

It is disappointing that the game will not be played at Lambeau Field. It would be intriguing to see how Green Bay supporters would respond to Rodgers’ return in another team’s uniform. However, even if Rodgers signs with the Steelers, that is unlikely this season.

This would not be the former Packers quarterback’s first revenge game. When Brett Favre joined the Vikings in 2009, the Packers faced him twice. The supporters were unhappy with how Favre left Green Bay and how he engineered his signing with the division rival Vikings after the Packers purposefully dealt him to an AFC team, the Jets.
The first matchup took place in Minnesota on Monday Night Football. Favre completed 24 of 31 throws for 271 yards and three touchdowns as the Vikings defeated the Packers 30–23.

Meanwhile, Brockington ran for a 52-yard score in the Packers’ 34-13 triumph, Dan Devine’s first as head coach of Green Bay.

Will we witness an Aaron Rodgers vengeance game this season? Will it take place in Pittsburgh or Dublin? One thing is certain: if it happens, it will be an unforgettable occasion.
