Aaron Jones, 30, who played seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers after being selected in the fifth round out of Texas-El Paso in 2017, set career highs with 255 rushing attempts and 1,138 rushing yards for the Vikings in 2024. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings agreed on Sunday to terms on a two-year, $20 million contract with running back Aaron Jones, preventing the well-liked veteran from reaching free agency after a strong debut with his former rival.
Jones will receive $13 million guaranteed, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus.
After Chester Taylor in 2006 and Adrian Peterson in 2007, Jones became the third rusher in Minnesota’s history to reach 1,000 yards in his debut season. For the second time in his career, Jones participated in every game. In addition, he was the team’s Salute to Service Award recipient and nominee for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.
With an average of 4.9 yards per rush, Jones is sixth all-time among NFL running backs with at least 1,000 career runs.
