EXCLUSIVE: NFL Draft Rumors Heat Up: New York Jets ‘Infatuated’ with Potential Game-Changer as They Set Sights on Top 2025 Prospect

The New York Jets have the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, putting them in a good position to land a high-end player to build around for the future. While it is way too early to predict who the Jets will choose in 2025, there have been some early NFL choose whispers about who they may want.

Even after signing Justin Fields, New York might use their first-round pick to choose a quarterback. However, there is rising speculation that the Tennessee Titans will select Cam Ward with the first overall pick.

As for quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the current consensus is that he will not make it past the New York Giants (third overall choice), with the Cleveland Browns having a strong chance of picking him second overall.

If both quarterbacks go off the board, the Jets will be able to attract superior players. New York has lots of defensive needs, especially after not re-signing CB DJ Reed Jr. However, first-year head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey appear to be more concerned with the opposite side of the ball.

In his most recent 2025 NFL Draft mock, Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda reported the Jets are “infatuated” with Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. New York’s interest in the All-American is so keen that the club is reportedly planning multiple meetings with him.

Warren, who is 6-foot-5, is considered one of the greatest pass catchers in the 2025 NFL Draft. While Warren is not regarded as a top prospect in the same way that Brock Bowers was, there is speculation that he may be selected to several Pro Bowls. He would fit right in with Jets offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand’s offense, becoming the go-to tight end as Sam LaPorta was for the Detroit Lions.

Warren should be available with the seventh overall pick. However, New York may need to assess whether the unique depth of the tight end class in the 2025 NFL Draft will allow the position to be addressed later. If Warren is picked by the Jets, he will be a wonderful compliment to Garrett Wilson and make life much simpler for Fields as the starter in 2025.
