Mecole Hardman, a former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver, has had remarkable NFL success playing alongside one of the best quarterbacks of all time. Now he’ll have the opportunity to receive passes from a young star at the position. Hardman, a former second-round pick who won three Super Bowls with Patrick Mahomes, became a free agent when his second stint with the Chiefs ended. Hardman, who spent only seven months with the New York Jets in 2023, will be trying to add a fourth Lombardi Trophy to his resume after making his first appearance in the NFC.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Hardman is signing a one-year contract with the Green Bay Packers. It is a move that will allow Hardman to play for another Super Bowl contender after the Chiefs’ 2024 season ended with a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. And he will undoubtedly be delighted about the opportunity to play alongside Jordan Love, the Packers’ four-year, $220 million quarterback signed last July.
Hardman may struggle to get substantial offensive snaps given Green Bay’s depth at wide receiver, which includes Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Dontayvion Wicks. But Hardman also has return game potential, and Packers head coach Matt LaFleur will have taken note of how the Chiefs employed him in motion on short throws and designed runs to get the former Bulldog the ball in open space. Hardman scored the winning touchdown in overtime during Super Bowl LVIII. After bidding farewell to the Chiefs, he plans to make a similar effect for the Packers.
