Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs had a fantastic debut season in Titletown after arriving as a free agency before of the 2024 NFL season. He concluded the season with 301 carries (sixth in the NFL), 1,329 rushing yards (also sixth), and 15 rushing touchdowns (fourth in the league, one shy of first).
Indeed, the signing of Jacobs, among other variables, appeared to have shifted the Packers attack from a pass-first threat to one that preferred to run the football. To put this into perspective, former Green Bay running back Aaron Jones had a career-high 255 carries in 2024 with the Minnesota Vikings. The most he ever had as a Packer was 236.
One of the major factors was Jordan Love’s health as the starting quarterback. While he only missed two complete games due to a ruptured MCL, it was evident that he was injured throughout the season, and his own output suffered as a result.
Green Bay Packers’ Running Back Josh Jacobs says Jordan Love is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Love finished 15 games this season with a 63.1% completion percentage, 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 96.7 passer rating. As previously said, he played through injuries for the majority of the year. He hurt his MCL in Week 1 then injured his groin halfway through the season. Both of these injuries limited his movement and throwing stance.
Earlier this offseason, during a podcast interview with his former head coach, Jon Gruden, Jacobs praised his Green Bay quarterback’s talent.
“This is something special, man.” I don’t think people realize how good he is. I believe he was fifth in QBR this year, which was a “down year” for him, according to Jacobs. “He is incredibly poised. He’s one of those men, man, who never gets frightened; he’s going to stay and be the last guy in the building, as well as the first guy. He does everything the correct way. “He talks to the guys and has relationships with them.”
Josh Jacobs expands on his praise for Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.
He said, “He’s a dog. I mean, he has all the features and abilities, buddy. He was hurt a lot last year, but once he felt comfortable doing what he wanted to do, I’m telling you, he’s one of the ones. I see him making some throws and I’m like, ‘D—!'”
Despite taking Green Bay to the NFL Playoffs in each of his first two seasons as starting quarterback, something Rodgers did not do in his final season with the Packers, some supporters believe Love is not the best fit for the organization.
