FLOWERY BRANCH, GA— The Atlanta Falcons have reached an agreement with kicker Lenny Krieg, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
The organization reportedly paid Krieg a signing bonus and a base salary guarantee on a three-year contract.
Krieg is originally from Germany and has previously competed in the European League of Football.
Krieg was one of five specialists selected to the 2025 NFL Combine last month as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway initiative. According to the ELF website, Krieg was the only kicker in Indianapolis who made no mistakes. He converted all 14 field goal attempts from 35 to 55 yards, drawing accolades from former Colts punter Pat McAfee.
Then, on Thursday, Krieg attended the International Player Pathway’s Pro Day at the University of South Florida. He was one of 13 players in attendance, with Germany among the 12 countries represented.
Krieg played for the EFL’s Stuttgart Surge in 2025, converting 11 of 16 field goals (68.8%).
The NFL’s International Player Pathway program pro day today will include German-born K Lenny Krieg, who is garnering a lot of hype. Went perfect at the Combine, signed with agent @mike_delledonne, and teams are queuing up visits.
The Falcons presently have Younghoe Koo rostered as their kicker and signed until the 2026 season.
Koo, on the other hand, had an atypical season in 2024, making 25 of 34 field goal attempts and recording his lowest conversion rate (73.5%) since joining Atlanta in 2019. He missed a career-high three kicks in the Falcons’ Week 10 loss to the New Orleans Saints, one of which was blocked.
Koo was placed on injured reserve before Atlanta’s Week 16 game due to a right hip problem, and he did not complete the 8-9 season. The Falcons signed kicker Riley Patterson at the time, and he made four of his seven field goals (57.1%) in Atlanta’s final three games. Patterson became a free agent when the new league launched earlier this month.
“We missed much too many kicks this year. “The brutal, honest truth — that can’t happen,” Falcons head coach Raheem Morris stated during his season-ending press conference. “So we’ve got to figure out how to make those kicks.” That surely contributes to not winning as many games as you would like to win. We need to figure out how to create that level of competition for everyone.”
