We’ve known for the better part of a year that the Dallas Cowboys need to acquire CeeDee Lamb some help, considering that 88 was the offensive last season. Yes, Lamb is an All-Pro player, but just because he can do everything himself does not mean he should. The Cowboys appear to be adding a running mate in the draft, with many choices on the table. But during the annual league meeting, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones has made a habit of “liking” what the organization has done this offseason, and now we have Jones, who maintains his faith in a receiving group that is either Lamb or bust right now.
“I like our room,” Jones replied. “We added [Jonathan] Mingo late last year, and I believe he had a full offseason to work with Dak.” We truly liked him once he graduated from Ole Miss. I genuinely believe he has a lot of potential. I really like our young men, [Ryan] Flournoy. Obviously, Turpin adds something to the mix with his juice and explosion.
“I really like our room, but at the same time losing [Brandin] Cooks in free agency, we’re still open.” That will not sit well with Dallas supporters, but Jones noted that the team requires a “explosive No. 2 receiver.”
So maybe Cowboys Nation is at peace there.
Related: Cowboys’ Micah challenged by coach in one key area. Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, and Jonathan Mingo will join CeeDee as Dak Prescott’s weapons. That will not get it done. You’re paying Dak and Ceedee high dollar; get them the help they need. Jones “likes” the receiving room and believes the younger players will improve in 2025. However, if the organization is serious about winning, the depth chart behind Lamb suggests that it requires a significant injection of quality talent.
