According to General Manager Brian Gutekunst, the Green Bay Packers are likely to make a decision on Jaire Alexander before the 2025 NFL Draft.
Jaire Alexander is one of the best players in recent memory to play for the Green Bay Packers, but he may have played his final snap with the organization. While he remains a fine player when healthy, the former first-round choice has appeared in only 14 games over the last two seasons. With a $24.9 million cap hit and no guaranteed money remaining on his contract, it’s logical to presume the Packers will cut him if the player and team cannot reach an agreement on a reworked deal.

Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers did their best to improve a dreadful defense, but there is still work to be done. Jaycee Horn, a Pro Bowler, demonstrated that he could be an important part of the defense when healthy last year, while Michael Jackson was one of the unit’s few bright spots. However, there are enough questions around both guys to justify signing Jaire Alexander after his Packers release. While the veteran has his own set of concerns, his presence increases the likelihood that Carolina will have at least one or two competent cornerbacks on the field for all 17 games.
The Buffalo Bills signed cornerback Christain Benford to a well-deserved four-year, $76 million contract, but the team still has to find another starting-caliber option. With just $4.45 million in cap room, the Bills may sign Jaire Alexander to an incentive-laden prove-it deal once the Packers release him. While the injury worries are valid, Buffalo must go all out and add a guy with All-Pro potential to finally win the AFC playoffs.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons have a potential young offensive core that includes quarterback Michael Penix, wide receiver Drake London, and running back Bijan Robinson. However, with such a terrible defense, none of this will matter. Atlanta has added a few pieces, but the secondary still has more work. The NFC South is one of football’s weaker divisions, and a veteran like Alexander might help this team win its first division championship since Matt Ryan was an MVP-caliber quarterback.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens feature a solid cornerback combo in veteran Marlon Humphrey and 2024 first-round choice Nate Wiggins. To make the Super Bowl, you’ll need three trustworthy cornerbacks who share a division with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, as well as a conference featuring Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. Last year’s Tre’Davious White deal demonstrated the team’s desire for more cornerback depth, and Alexander should have more in the tank than the former Bills cornerback.
