SHOCKING REUNION: Green Bay Packers In a Shocking Move Have Sign 70-Sack Pass Rusher In a Intriguing Reunion

The Green Bay Packers have a need on defense. Jeff Hafley and his team could use more pass rushing.

Early in NFL free agency, it was expected that the Packers would go after a big name. However, Brian Gutekunst and the front management have been far less aggressive than expected. There have only been two big signings, offensive tackle Aaron Banks and cornerback Nate Hobbs.

Looking at the current market, there are still a few interesting possibilities available.

With that in mind, Green Bay is being urged to reunite with a 70-sack pass rusher who has previously made a significant contribution to the organization.

According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, Preston Smith could be a viable alternative for the Packers. Of course, the team moved him to the Pittsburgh Steelers before the deadline last season.

“The Green Bay Packers traded pass-rusher Preston Smith to the Steelers at last year’s deadline, but they should consider bringing him back now,” he said.

“While the Packers produced 45 sacks as a team last season, Rashan Gary was the only Green Bay defense to have more than five. Smith has 4.5 sacks with the Packers and Steelers last season and eight sacks the prior three years.

Smith played nine games for the team last season. He recorded 19 tackles and 2.5 sacks before joining the Steelers for eight games, where he added 13 tackles and two sacks.

Even though Green Bay traded him last season, a reunion could make sense. Smith has not signed with a team this offseason, but he is familiar with the organization’s defensive philosophy.

It may not be “likely” that Green Bay will sign Smith, but the move might benefit both parties.
