Trey Hendrickson has been the greatest player on the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense and one of the most underappreciated players in the NFL for quite some time. However, the franchise refuses to pay him what he deserves.
It all resulted in a trade request to begin the off-season. Since then, there has been significant speculation that he may be dealt, particularly after the Bengals paid their two receivers.
Right now, it appears that he will not receive a significant contract extension with Cincinnati. It is now up to the Atlanta Falcons to step in, trade some selections, and pay the franchise pass rusher.

For all the changes that have occurred with the Atlanta Falcons over the last decade, one thing has stayed constant: their failures to get to the quarterback. They’ve tried and tried to find that reliable, game-winning rusher, but each has been a swing and a miss.
Trey Hendrickson is one of the most consistent players in the NFL. He has pulled together back-to-back seasons with 17.5 sacks while having no help around.
The Pro Bowler needs to be compensated as one of the finest in the league. His current wage puts him on the same level as Chase Young, which is pretty demeaning.
While the Falcons may not have much cap room right now, they do have enough flexibility to pay the pass rusher fairly. Kirk Cousins will not be on the books for long, and the team is not obligated to pay any outrageous contracts.
Of course, it’s not just about giving Hendrickson money. It will be difficult to provide the Bengals with adequate recompense for their departure from their defensive leader. With that said, if you wait long enough, you could be able to get him for a second- or third-round pick due to his threat to sit out the season.
Adding a talent like Trey Hendrickson would push the Falcons into the playoffs. He is a true game changer who deserves every money he asks for.
