Of course, Johnson’s departure still stings, and it will make for some extremely emotional games as the Lions face the Bears. Now, the Lions are moving forward, and head coach Dan Campbell is assuring the league that losing Johnson will not weaken the Lions’ offense.

During the NFL’s annual league meetings last week, Campbell discussed the team’s offensive strengths.
Campbell’s message is clear: it makes no difference who calls the plays because it is up to the players to execute them successfully. So, you may remove the coach, but if you still have the parts of the puzzle, as the Lions do, you’re set.
Jared Goff, the Lions’ quarterback, is a key piece of that jigsaw. Campbell lauded Goff during the league meetings, stating that he had a lot of faith in the quarterback.
“Everything we wanted him to do in the offense, he did,” Campbell said.
And then he started bringing stuff to us, like, “Hey, man, I see this look. Let me get to this play. I know I have these possibilities in the bag.
“He said, ‘But let me get to this as well.’ Right? Those are the moments when it’s like, “OK, here we go, man.” That’s starting to show. I expect that taking another step further.”
The Detroit Lions have done their part in the offseason to secure their offensive roster. They have also paid a large sum of money for it. The organization has signed multi-season contracts with Goff, David Montgomery, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell, and Taylor Decker. So, the components are there, and Campbell is assembling them.

Lions’ Needs for the Upcoming Draft
The NFL draft is approaching soon, and the Lions will be trying to add some vital players. Another defensive lineman to partner with Aidan Hutchinson is a critical requirement.
While everyone has their best ideas about what the Lions will do, CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli believes the team should choose Boston College’s Donovan Ezeiruaku.
“It is not impossible that the Lions will pursue Tyler Booker or their favorite remaining interior offensive lineman, but a bookend to Aidan Hutchinson remains a priority,” Fornelli wrote in his story, which was released on Friday, April 4. “Ezeiruaku is a high-moter player who was very productive at Boston College, and those are traits the Lions seem to prioritize.”
