BREAKING: Fans were stunned by what Dodgers GM Dave Roberts had to say about the Dodgers being ranked as the second-most valuable franchise in the MLB.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the second-most valuable MLB franchise, trailing only the World Series runners-up, the New York Yankees.

CNBC’s Michael Ozanian recently calculated the overall value of all 30 MLB teams and discovered that the average team is worth $2.62 billion. His valuations place the Yankees at $8 billion and the Dodgers at $5.8 billion.

In terms of revenue sharing, Ozanian noted that the Dodgers were nearly ahead of the Yankees in that category, but they still had to pay their revenue-sharing obligations.

The Yankees almost edged out the Dodgers, earning $705 million to the defending champion’s $701 million. No other team generated more than $600 million in revenue last season.
In Major League Baseball, revenue sharing is a system in which teams pool their local earnings, such as ticket sales, concessions, television partnerships, and other team-specific expenses. This money is then distributed around the league, with smaller-market teams receiving a higher percentage of the revenue in an effort to make the league more competitive.

MLB Team Values 2025: Yankees, Dodgers Worth Combined $16 Billion

“The Dodgers actually generated the most revenue last year in baseball,” Ozanian informed us, “but we show them second in revenue behind the Yankees because the Dodgers had to pay so much in revenue sharing but we net that out.”

There is a significant difference between first and second place in terms of CNBC valuations, but the Boston Red Sox are third on the list, worth slightly more than $1 billion behind the Dodgers at $4.7 billion.
