In a decision that has shocked the NFL community, Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell dropped a quarterback bombshell during a surprise press conference Friday morning—one that could drastically alter the team’s future and reshape the NFC North landscape.
After weeks of speculation and rising pressure following Kirk Cousins’ departure in free agency, O’Connell disclosed that the Vikings will start rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy in Week 1, bypassing veteran newcomer Sam Darnold and defying league expectations.
