SHOCKING TRADE AGREED: Detroit Lions Are Set To Trade Starting QB To New Orlean Saint After Saint Blockbuster Offer – As Confirmed By GM Brad Holmes

The New Orleans Saints are already in a difficult situation just weeks before the 2025 NFL Draft.

According to NFL Network, veteran quarterback Derek Carr is dealing with a shoulder ailment that may require surgery to heal.

With a new head coach and coaching staff, the Saints could be without their starting quarterback for the 2025 season.

Kellen Moore, a first-time NFL head coach who previously served as offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Chargers, and Dallas Cowboys, may look to the draft or a veteran to fill the major vacancy.

Detroit Lions backup quarterback Hendon Hooker (2) gets set for the snap against the Jacksonville Jaguars

A guy who has been developing in the Detroit Lions organization over the last two years may be a cost-effective option for a team suffering with salary cap concerns.

Hendon Hooker does not get much playing time during the regular season, but he may be a young, affordable player that a new coach wants to shape while he builds up the rest of the squad.

Back in 2023, Hooker said at the combine on the influx of Tennessee players to New Orleans, “Yeah, it’d be good to join them. Very cool pipeline. I communicate with every one of those guys (old college teammates who played with the Saints). I ate supper with Alontae Taylor last week.

He came out to California. He was working out, so I had dinner with him, and he told me about his experiences in New Orleans.”

Sports Illustrated also identified Teddy Bridgewater, a former Lions quarterback, as a potential contender for the Saints.

“Bridgewater played exactly three snaps for the Lions, stepping in for Jared Goff for a series in the second quarter of Detroit’s 45-31 loss to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round,” according to Dierberger. “That drive concluded with a 61-yard touchdown run by Jameson Williams. Bridgewater is already popular in the Bayou, having played for the Saints in 2018 and 2019. “Why not run it for another year?”

The Lions may request the Saints’ fourth-round pick (No. 112) this year in order to split ways with the budding signal-caller.

General manager Brad Holmes may then use the increased capital added to package picks to trade up in the second round to strengthen offensive and defensive needs.
