The Washington Commanders had a 12-win season last year and advanced to the NFC Championship game under the new administration of Adam Peters, Dan Quinn, and Jayden Daniels. But this new-look organization had no intention of sitting back; in order to provide the kind of success their fans demand, Peters went about wheeling and dealing this summer. Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil were signed in deals to help Daniels fill two crucial offensive spots, giving him an All-Pro receiver and a Pro Bowl left tackle.
And Daniels, who appeared on the Gruden Goes Long podcast, thanked the front office for their efforts this offseason with flowers. “It’s a blessing,” Daniels explained. “It’s incredibly exciting because we clearly want to improve year after year, and the front office has done an excellent job of figuring out how to do so. Adding a dynamic player like Deebo and Laremy, who have been proven in this league for several years. It’s fantastic. I’m just really excited to get out there and start working with them and establishing that consistency.”
Daniels is delighted with the changes, and given that he is still on his rookie contract, there could be more to come as the organization seeks to remain in the Super Bowl conversation for as long as possible. It was a fantastic first season for Daniels and Washington, and Year 2 promises to be even better. However, as we all know, things rarely go as planned in the NFL, but Jayden and the Commanders appear to have everything in place to continue their success.
Yes, it is just one year, and we know how quickly things can change, but with the acquisitions of Samuel and Tunsil, Washington is swinging for the fences in 2025.
And it’s evident Daniels is pleased with the front office’s aggressive approach to roster construction.
