Bam Adebayo was singled out by Miami Heat supporters as the main cause in their Wednesday night loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Adebayo nearly had a triple-double, scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists. However, he shot 20% from three and attempted only two field goals in the fourth quarter. Plus, scoring only 11 points looks unimpressive after his co-star Tyler Herro dropped 33 in Game 2.
Heat fans also chastised Erik Spoelstra for leaving Nikola Jovic on the court to close instead of Kel’el Ware. Jovic missed the last month due to injury and scored only four points (0-for-4 from 3-point range) with two turnovers.
The Heat cut Cleveland’s fourth-quarter lead several times but were unable to secure the victory. Herro, Davion Mitchell, and Haywood Highsmith received some praise for their combined 68 points on 52.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Herro knows the stakes and expressed the urgency for a victory in Game 3 at Kaseya Center Saturday afternoon.
“It’s a must-win for us,” Herro said in the postgame interview. “Dropping two in Cleveland, our backs are against the wall a little bit. It should bring the best out of us.”
