The Miami Heat are facing a fate that no team in league history has overcome.
They are already down 3-0 in their series against the Cleveland Cavaliers following a thrashing Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers limited the Heat to 87 points, with six players reaching double figures.
Tyler Herro, on the other hand, is not about to give up just yet.
“We wanted to be here,” Herro explained in the postgame interview. “We were the tenth seed and had two games to win on the road. We could have let go of the rope right there and lost one of those games. But we wanted to make the playoffs. It isn’t time to let go of the rope.
We will play until the last buzzer, whether it is the following game, Game 5, 6, 7, or another series after this. We just have to keep playing. This is who we are as an organization. We are not going out 4-0.”
Miami has battled difficulties throughout the season, from the rollercoaster regular season to their play-in run to the playoffs.
We’ll see if Herro’s words come to pass. If Miami makes the series competitive, these remarks can serve as motivation. If they lose, Herro better hope his words aren’t used in memes and rival fan trash talk.
Miami welcomes the Cavaliers for Game 4 on Monday night.
