The San Antonio Spurs are among the top picks to sign Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo for the upcoming season, according to updated Vegas odds, in a startling turn of events that has NBA circles in a frenzy. Giannis, who has long been considered the pillar of the Bucks’ organization, has hardly ever been associated with the Spurs—until now.
The Spurs have +350 odds to sign the two-time MVP, which is less than the Los Angeles Lakers (+300) and more than more often mentioned teams like the Miami Heat and New York Knicks, according to revised betting lines made public Tuesday morning.
With Gregg Popovich still in charge and a young core led by Wembanyama and Devin Vassell, the Spurs could offer both a win-now and future-focused appeal. Giannis, who has remained publicly committed to Milwaukee, has also stated in the past year that he wants to win “in the right situation” and that he is “open to new chapters” if the Bucks are unable to contend.Even though nothing is happening right now, the movement of the odds suggests that the NBA’s landscape may change significantly. Next season might usher in a new dynasty in South Texas if the Spurs are genuinely in the running for Giannis.
