Shortly before last season’s NBA trade deadline, the Miami Heat made a deal that sent Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors, receiving Andrew Wiggins and other assets in return. Now, less than a year later, it appears Wiggins might already be on the trade block.
According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, Miami is actively shopping Wiggins, and the Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as a potential destination. Buha also shared what the Heat are reportedly asking for in return.
Sources say Miami is seeking a package that includes a first-round pick (with unspecified protections), Dalton Knecht, and Rui Hachimura in exchange for Wiggins, a former All-Star.
At first glance, that’s a steep price for a solid starting-caliber wing with two-way ability. Given that the Lakers just drafted Knecht in the first round of 2024, they may be reluctant to let him go—especially for a 30-year-old like Wiggins.
Still, if the Lakers are serious about making a push while LeBron James remains on the roster and nears his mid-40s, a win-now move like this might be exactly what they’re considering this offseason.
