The 2025 NBA offseason has slowed drastically, and the Miami Heat have yet to make a significant move. However, if one insider gets his way, the squad will make a franchise-altering decision. Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel believes the Heat should attempt to deal standout forward Bam Adebayo this offseason. Adebayo currently represents the franchise. He is also one of the NBA’s most underrated players. While trading him would be a huge surprise, it could make sense. As the franchise continues to try to claw its way back to championship contention, the window for competing has shifted.
Winderman’s rationale makes sense, notwithstanding the difficulty of trading Adebayo. Miami is not prepared to compete for a title right now. Adebayo’s opportunity to become a top player on a championship contender is now wide open. Adebayo appeared in 78 NBA games for the Miami Heat in 2024-25. He averaged 18.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.3 steals a game, shooting 48.5% from the field and 35.7% from three.

Many top-tier contenders in the league would want to add his skill set and production. Adebayo might be the missing link for some clubs. Even though Winderman presented a solid argument for dealing Adebayo, it’s unclear whether Miami will even examine the possibility. Pat Riley may still regard the 27-year-old center as key to his future plans. It will be intriguing to observe how the Heat’s offseason progresses. They have remained reasonably quiet, but this may change at any time.
