JUST NOW; OFFICIAL: Boston Celtics Have Officially Announced the Signing of $100 Million Guard In a Shocking Blockbuster Trade.

This offseason, the Boston Celtics have been quite active. The front office immediately changed course and focused on cutting compensation this offseason after Jayson Tatum tore his Achilles tendon in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. As a result, during the previous few months, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kornet, and perhaps Al Horford have all left.

Guard Anfernee Simons, who was acquired from the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the Holiday trade, is the most eye-catching of the newcomers to town. However, even though Simons was only acquired, since arriving in Boston, his name has been mentioned in trade speculations on a regular basis.

Furthermore, it appears that the front office is still considering trade proposals for the gifted guard.

Celtics trade Jrue Holiday to Portland for Anfernee Simons

Celtics Are Still Open to Trading Anfernee Simons While Boston found it difficult to accept Holiday’s departure, they received Simons, a gifted young scorer, in exchange, who might help offset some of the scoring production that will be lost as Tatum is predicted to miss the most, if not all, of the 2025–26 season. Simons shot 42.6% from the floor and averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game the previous season.

However, as we have seen throughout the offseason, the C’s are determined to get as close to cap compliance as possible so they can restock their squad when Tatum returns. The fact that the organization sent Georges Niang to the Utah Jazz so soon after getting him in the Porzingis trade indicates that they are willing to let go of Simons so quickly.

Some people questioned if the organization had given up on trying to deal Simons because the NBA offseason was in a bit of a rut. That isn’t the case, according to Bleacher Report’s NBA expert Jake Fischer.

Since the Celtics want to cut even more salary before the new season begins, they are still considering offers for Simons.

On “NBA Insider Notebook with Jake Fischer,” Fischer stated, “the Celtics, to my understanding, are going to continue looking for salary-shedding opportunities and they are going to continue listening to incoming trade calls for Anfernee Simons.”

NBA Rumors: Celtics Trade For Blazers' Anfernee Simons In Bold Proposal
Should Anfernee Simons be traded by the Celtics?
Simons will receive $27.7 million for the upcoming season under his contract, which is about to expire. The Celtics might become entirely cap compliant if they dump Simons in another deal, even though that’s not a bad price to pay for him. Ultimately, is Boston interested in trying to compete the next season?

possibly reassemble their roster after Tatum is back?

Since the latter seems to be their preferred course of action, it appears likely that Simons will be traded. Although the C’s won’t make a deal merely for the purpose of making one, you can guarantee that they are still frantically trying to figure out how to cut Simons’ pay only a few months after they first acquired him.
