
Kernersville, North Carolina (WGHP) — A Triad electrical firm issued a statement after a massive fire destroyed the ancient structure Saturday night, declaring it a total loss.
The building was designated as a historical Kernersville structure, having been constructed in 1897 as the Harmon and Reid Mill before becoming Caudill’s Electrical Company in recent years.
According to a news release from the Kernersville Fire Rescue Department, emergency officials were still battling a “commercial structure fire” at 208 East Bodenhamer Street as of 10 p.m.
As a result, Bodenhamer Street has reopened. Duke Energy also completed repairs in the vicinity, and the facility was officially returned to the property owners about 10 a.m.
The Kernersville Fire Rescue crews reported no injuries during the fire, and the cause is currently being investigated by the Kernersville Fire Marshal’s Office.
There have been no additional updates on the crash near the fire, but firefighters stated that “multiple events occurred in the area around the same time, and our priority is to conduct a thorough and accurate investigation to determine the facts.”

• Beeson Crossroads Fire Department.
• Piney Grove Fire Department.
• Oak Ridge Fire Department.
• Union Cross Fire Department.
• Walkertown Fire Department.

On Saturday night, May 24, Kernersville Fire Rescue responded to a big fire on Bodenhamer Street.
The fire started at a historic Kernersville structure known as the Harmon and Reid Mill, which was erected in 1897. In recent years, it has been occupied and referred to as Caudill Electric Co.
The Kernersville Fire Department reports that the structure is a total loss.
Bodenhamer Street is closed to all traffic between North Main Street and East Mountain Street. Authorities are encouraging the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.There have been no reports of injuries related to the incident as of yet. However, emergency officials are also responding to a motor vehicle accident in the area, which involves downed electrical wires. It is unclear whether the crash was related to the ongoing fire problem.
