Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has once again plunged his future at Anfield into uncertainty after a turbulent week marked by frustration and speculation. Following Liverpool’s dramatic 3-3 draw against Leeds United, where Salah remained an unused substitute, the Egyptian star delivered a fiery post-match interview that openly criticized several internal issues at the club. His comments only intensified existing rumors that his long and successful spell with the Reds may be nearing its conclusion.

The situation escalated when Salah was excluded from Liverpool’s Champions League squad for their trip to face Inter Milan at the San Siro. His absence added fuel to the growing belief that the relationship between Salah and the club may be reaching a breaking point. Even Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted he has no clear answers about the forward’s future, acknowledging that uncertainty surrounds the fate of the “Egyptian King.” Salah has been loosely connected with a number of major European teams, and among them Bayern Munich has been regularly mentioned by journalists and supporters alike.
Ahead of Bayern Munich’s 3-1 Champions League victory over Sporting CP, board member for sport Max Eberl was asked directly about the possibility of Salah moving to Bavaria. Eberl quickly dismissed the notion, emphasizing that Bayern is extremely well-covered on the right flank and that bringing in a star like Salah would disrupt their current development plan.
“We have an exceptional young talent in Lennart Karl,” Eberl told DAZN. “It would make absolutely no sense to block his path by placing someone ahead of him at this stage.” His remarks made it clear that Bayern is committed to nurturing Karl rather than pursuing a high-profile transfer like Salah.
Karl, one of Bayern’s brightest academy products, has stepped into the spotlight this season with a series of standout performances. The teenager once again scored in Bayern’s latest European outing and has established himself as one of the most exciting young attackers in Germany. Across all competitions, Karl has registered five goals and two assists in eighteen appearances, making him a valuable asset in Bayern’s long-term strategy.

Salah, meanwhile, is already considered one of Liverpool’s all-time greats. Over his years on Merseyside, he has collected every major club trophy available and produced remarkable numbers: 250 goals and 116 assists in 420 matches across all competitions. His contribution was especially notable in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign last season, when he recorded 29 Premier League goals and added 18 assists, playing a central role in guiding Slot to a league championship in his first year at the helm.
However, the current season has seen a dip in his performances, and his emotional reaction after the Leeds match may have pushed tensions beyond repair. While a departure from Liverpool appears increasingly plausible, Bayern Munich is not expected to be his landing spot. According to Eberl’s firm stance, the Bundesliga giants have no intention of altering their project or hindering Karl’s rapid rise by pursuing Salah.
