According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Cleveland Browns will hire former Ken Dorsey as their new offensive coordinator.
Dorsey, a former Browns quarterback, will take over the offence in 2024 after the Buffalo Bills confirmed the hiring of Joe Brady to replace him.
He was fired after the Bills suffered a 24-22 loss to the Denver Broncos, dropping their season record to 5-5. Dorsey played three seasons with the Browns, from 2006 to 2008.
Dorsey will take over for Alex Van Pelt with the Browns and will be faced with making the most of Deshaun Watson in 2024, the third year of his five-year, fully guaranteed contract.
Despite a promising 11-6 season, the Browns sacked former offensive coordinator Van Pelt just two days after being eliminated from the playoffs by the Houston Texans.
According to sources, Dorsey was one of five applicants interviewed by the Browns last week for the position. He previously spent five years as a coach with the Panthers and four and a half with Buffalo.
Others included Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson, former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson, and Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Andy Dickerson.
According to ESPN, the Browns have hired Dorsey as their new offensive coordinator and voice, working with quarterback Deshaun Watson.
He is anticipated to be charged with offence and assist Watson in regaining his form after two inconsistent seasons with the Browns.
